ఒడంబడిక -షరతు- పర్యవసానం

 

క్రీస్తు నందు ప్రియమైన సహోదర సహోదరీలారా, ఈనాటి పఠనాలు మన జీవితానికి సంబంధించి ఒడంబడిక, షరతు మరియు పర్యవసానం గురించి ధ్యానించమని  ఆహ్వానిస్తాయి.

మొదటి పఠనం

ఈ పఠనం ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలకు మరియు ఈ రోజు మనకు, దైవ ప్రజలకు స్పష్టమైన వివరణ మరియు గుర్తు చేస్తున్నారు. దేని గురించి అంటే

 

ఒడంబడిక: నేను మీ దేవుడును  మరియు మీరు నా ప్రజలు. (ద్వితీయోపదేశకాండము 26:17,18) (యిర్మీయా 30:22; నిర్గమకాండము 6:7)

ఈ వాక్య సందర్భం ఏమిటంటే, వాగ్దాన దేశంలోకి ప్రవేశించే ముందు మోషే ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలను సిద్ధం చేస్తున్నాడు. కావున, వారందరిని ఒకచోట గుమిగూడి ఆలకిస్తున్నారు. మోషే ఒడంబడికను గుర్తుచేస్తూ మరియు దృఢమైన హృదయంతో ధృవీకరించమని మరియు సంపూర్ణ విశ్వాసంతో దానిని పునరుద్ధరించమని వారిని ఆహ్వానిస్తున్నారు. ఒడంబడికలో ఉన్న అంశాలు:

●      దేవుడు వారి దేవుడు మరియు వారు అతని ప్రజలు

●      దేవుడే వారికి భరోసా, భద్రత మరియు సమృద్ధిగా ఆశీర్వదిస్తారు.

●      ఈ ఒడంబడిక దేవుని చిత్తాన్ని గుర్తు చేయడాం

●      ఈ ఒడంబడిక మానవునిలో గల  దేవుని ఉద్దేశ్యాన్ని నెరవేర్చడమే

●      ఈ ఒడంబడిక వారు నడవడానికి, పాటించడానికి మరియు ఒడంబడికను పాటించేలా శక్తిని దయ చేస్తారు.

కాబట్టి, మోషే వారి పాత్రను వారికి గుర్తుచేసి, వారు దేవునితో చేస్తున్న వాగ్దానానికి మరల నిర్దారించమని ఆహ్వానిస్తున్నాడు.

 

షరతు/నిబంధన :

సాధారణంగా, మేము ఏదైనా ఉత్పత్తి కలనుకున్నపుడు , ఉద్యోగం లేదా ఒప్పందాన్ని ఏర్పడినప్పుడు కొన్ని నిబంధనలు మరియు షరతులు చూస్తాము. అంటే ఇచ్చిన ఉత్పత్తి లేదా మరేదైనా రకానికి సంబంధించి కొంత స్పష్టతను అందించడం కోసమే ఈ షరతులు, నిబంధనలు.

17వ వచనం లో చూసినట్లైయితే: “నేడు మీరు ప్రభువును  మీ దేవునిగా ఎన్నుకొంటిరి. ఆ ప్రభువు ఆజ్ఞలన్నిటిని పాటించి ఆయనకు విధేయులై ఉండుటకు సమ్మతించిరి.” అలాగే దేవుని ఒడంబడికకు కూడా షరతులు వర్తిస్తాయి, ఈ షరతులు ప్రజల  యొక్క పాత్ర మరియు బాధ్యతపై కొంత వెలుగునిస్తాయి. "అవును" అని చెప్పడం ద్వారా అంతా ముగిసిపోదు, కానీ దేవుడు ఇచ్చే ప్రయోజనాలను ఆస్వాదించడానికి ఒక కొనసాగింపు ఉండాలి. వారు ఏకగ్రీవంగా ఆమోదించినట్లు, ఇది ఒక  కట్టుబడి:

➢    దేవుని శాసనాలు, మరియు ఆజ్ఞలను వారి హృదయంతో మరియు ఆత్మతో పాటించడంలో జాగ్రత్తగా ఉండాలి. కాబట్టి, ఇది సంపూర్ణ విధేయతకు ప్రాధాన్యతనిస్తుంది. (నిర్గమకాండము అధ్యాయం 19 నుండి.)

➢    అతని మార్గాలలో నడుచుట   - ఇది జీవన విధానాన్ని మార్చడం ద్వారా మరియు ఎల్లప్పుడూ దేవుని స్వరానికి కట్టుబడి ఉండటం ద్వారా జీవితకాల నిబద్ధతను వెల్లడి చేస్తుంది.

 

పరిణామాలు: ఆశీర్వాదాలు

మరియు 18  మరియు 19  వ వచనంలో ఇలా చెప్పబడింది “ప్రభువు కుడా తాను మాట ఇచ్చినట్లే నేడు మిమ్ము సొంత ప్రజగా చేసుకొనెను.కానీ మీరు తన ఆజ్ఞలన్నిటిని చేకొనవలెనని ప్రభువు కోరిక. అయన తాను కలిగించిన జాతులన్నిటికంటే మిమ్ము అధికులను చేయును. దాని వలన మీకు కీర్తి ప్రతిష్టలు అబ్బును. ప్రభువు చెప్పినట్లే మీరు అతని సొంత ప్రజలగుదురు.”

 

ప్రభువు ఏర్పరిచిన ఒడంబడికని అంగీకరించి మరియు వారు సమృద్ధిగా ఆశీర్వదించబడతారని వాగ్దానం చేసాడు, ఎందుకంటే ప్రభువు విశ్వాస పాత్రుడు మరియు నమ్మదగినవాడు, తన వాగ్దానాల నుండి వెనక్కి తగ్గడు. అందువల్ల ఒడంబడికకు విధేయత చూపడానికి ప్రాథమికంగా కొన్ని ఆశీర్వాదాలు:

➔   వారు దేవుని ప్రజలు, చాలా ప్రత్యేకమైనవారు మరియు  ప్రియమైనవారు

➔   వారి పేరు, కీర్తి సుదూర ప్రాంతాలకు వ్యాపించి స్తుతింపబడును. (యిర్మీయా 13:11 మరియు 33:9)

ఎందుకంటే ఒడంబడికను అంగీకరించడం ద్వారా వారు ప్రభువుకు అంకితం చేయబడతారు, కాబట్టి వారి జీవన విధానం, వ్యవహరించడం మరియు సంబంధం లో దేవుని గుర్తింపు మరియు అతని పవిత్ర స్వభావాన్ని పోలి ఉంటుంది కాబట్టి ఆశీర్వాదాలు పొందుతారు.

అందువల్ల, వారు   వ్యక్తిగతంగా, సామాజికంగా మరియు మతపరంగా ప్రార్థన, ప్రేమ మరియు సేవ గుణాలు అలవాటు చేసుకుంటారు. ఈ కట్టుబాటు ఆశీర్వాదాలకు దారి తీస్తుంది. ఒడంబడికను అనుసరించే  ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ ఆశీర్వదించబడతారు,

 

సువార్త

యేసు, సువార్తలో కూడా శాసనాల గూర్చిమరియు ఆజ్ఞల గురించి ప్రజలకు గుర్తుచేస్తూ, వారి వ్యక్తిగత, సామాజిక మరియు మతపరమైన జీవితంలో విస్తరించి ఉన్న దేవునితో ఒడంబడిక సంబంధాన్ని నిజమైన అర్థాన్ని తెలుసుకోవడానికి మరియు సంపూర్ణంగ పాటించమని వారిని ఆహ్వానిస్తున్నారు . వారికి భోదిస్తూ, "నీ పొరుగువారిని ప్రేమించి, నీ శత్రువును ద్వేషించు" అని చెప్పబడినట్లు మీరు విన్నారు. యేసు లో  ద్వేషం,  ప్రతీకారం లేదా అవమానానికి స్థలం లేదు.

కాబట్టి, ప్రార్థించడం మరియు ప్రేమించడం అనే రెండు పనులు చేయమని యేసు మనల్ని పిలుస్తున్నారు.

★    ప్రార్థించడమంటే దేవునితో ఐక్యంగా ఉండడం మరియు ఇతరులతో సంబంధాన్ని బలపర్చుకోవడం.

★    ప్రేమించడం అంటే ఎదుటివారి పట్ల సాన్నిహిత్యం మరియు శ్రద్ధను వ్యక్తపరచడం. ఇది మరొకరి కోసం త్యాగం చేసే నిబద్ధత. యేసు పరిపూర్ణ ప్రార్థన మరియు పరిపూర్ణ ప్రేమ రెండింటికీ పరిపూర్ణ స్వరూపుడు.

 

 

యేసు తనను ఎగతాళి చేసిన, తిరస్కరించిన వారిని ప్రేమించాడు మరియు తన సిలువకు కారణమైన వారి కోసం క్షమించమని ప్రార్థించాడు. మనల్ని ద్వేషించే, ఇష్టపడని, చెడుగా ప్రవర్తించే, వెక్కిరించే మరియు హింసించే (దగ్గరి వారుమరియు దూరంగా; ప్రపంచంలోని అనేక ప్రాంతాలలో జరుగుతున్న) వారి కోసం కూడా అందరి కోసం ప్రేమించాలని మరియు ప్రార్థించాలని ఆయన ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు. మనం దయగల పరలోకపు తండ్రి బిడ్డలమని ఇది రుజువు చేస్తుంది. క్రైస్తవునికి వ్యక్తిగత శత్రువులు ఉండరు. మనం మన కుటుంబాన్ని మరియు స్నేహితులను మాత్రమే ప్రేమిస్తే, మనం అన్యమతస్థులు లేదా నాస్తికుల నుండి భిన్నంగా ఉండము.

తండ్రి “సజ్జనులపై దుర్జనులపై, సూర్యుని ప్రకాశింప చేయుచున్నాడు; సన్మార్గులపై దుర్మార్గులపై వర్షము వర్షింప చేయుచున్నారు. ” అని చెప్పి యేసు ముగించాడు. మరో మాటలో చెప్పాలంటే, దేవుడు తన పరిపూర్ణ ప్రేమను మరియు దయను అందరికీ సమానంగా ప్రసాదిస్తాడు. కానీ కొంతమంది ఆ దయను  ఎంచుకుంటారు మరియు మరికొందరు దానిని తిరస్కరిస్తారు.

 

ప్రియమైన మిత్రులారా, రెండు పఠనాల ధ్యానాంశం నుండి అది మనకు గుర్తు చేసేది

●      మనం ఈ రోజు జ్ఞానస్నానం  ద్వారా ఒడంబడిక ప్రజలు, జ్ఞానస్నానం పొందిన  క్షణం నుండి మనము  దేవునికి కట్టుబడి ఉంటామని వాగ్దానం చేసాము.

●      పఠనాలలోనిర్దేశించిన షరతులు అందరిని ప్రేమించడం మరియు ప్రార్థించడం మరియు నడవడానికి మరియు అతని ఆజ్ఞలను పాటించండి

●      అందువల్ల ఇది మన జీవితమంతా, వ్యక్తిగత, సామాజిక మరియు మతపరమైన విషయాలలో అన్నిటిలో వర్తిస్తుంది.

●      దేవుని షరతులు లేని ప్రేమ మరియు దయ నుండి సమృద్ధిగా ఆశీర్వాదాలు ప్రవహిస్తాయి.

 

ఈ తపస్సు కాల సమయంలో మనం ఈ అంశానికి శ్రద్ధ చూపి  మరియు మన జీవితాన్ని పునరుద్ధరించుకొని మరియు భగవంతుని పట్ల, ఇతరుల పట్ల మరియు మన పట్ల మన నిబద్ధతను మరోసారి నిర్దారించుకొని నడుద్దాం.

 

 

"కానీ మీరు ఎన్నుకొనబడిన జాతి. రాచరికపు యాజక బృందం, పవిత్రమైన జనము. దేవుని సొంత ప్రజలు. దేవుని అద్భుత కార్యములు ప్రకటింప ఏర్పడిన వారు. ఆయనయే మిమ్ము చీకటి నుండి అద్భుతమైన వెలుగులోనికి పిలిచెను." - 1 పేతురు 2:9

 

ఉపదేశమును ఆలించువారు విజయము చేపట్టును. ప్రభుని నమ్మువారు సుఖములు బడయును. సామెతలు 16:20

Saturday of the First Week of Lent

Deuteronomy  26:16-19

Matthew 5:43-48

CCC: Covenant -Condition- Consequence

 

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, the readings of the day invite us to reflect our Life in relation to the Covenant, Condition and Consequence.

1st Reading

The reading is a clear explanation and perfect reminder to the people of Israel and to us today, His People

The Covenant : He is to be your God and you are to be His people. (Deuteronomy 26:17,18) (Jeremiah 30:22; Exodus 6:7)

The context was that Moses was preparing the people of Israel before entering into the Promised Land. Therefore, gathering them all he reminds of the Covenant and invites them to affirm with firm heart and renew it with absolute conviction. The Covenant includes:

●      that God is their God and they are His People

●      He guarantees them assurance, security and abundant blessings.

●      This covenant is to remind the will of God

●      This covenant is to fulfil the purpose of God in Man

●      This covenant is to enable them to walk, keep and obey the covenant.

Hence, Moses reminds them of their role and invites their reaffirmation for the Promise they are making with God.

 

The Condition :

In general, when we observe any product, Job or agreement we come across certain terms and conditions. That is to provide some clarity on a given product or any other sort.

Verse 17 states “Today you have accepted the LORD’s agreement: he will be your God, and you will walk in his ways, observe his statutes, commandments, and ordinances, and obey his voice.” So also Conditions apply for God’s Covenant, to shed some light on the role and responsibility. Everything is not over just by saying”Yes'', but there should be a follow up to enjoy the following benefits. As they unanimously accepted, it is binding therefore to:

●      Be careful in observing God’s Statutes, Ordinances and Commandments with all their heart and soul. Hence, It is an emphasis on total obedience. (Exodus Chapter 19 onwards.)

●      To walk in his ways - which invites a lifelong Commitment by changing the way of living and always adhering to the voice of God.

 

The Consequences : the Blessings

And in Verse 18 it is stated “And today the LORD has accepted your agreement: you will be a people specially his own, as he promised you, you will keep all his commandments, and he will set you high in praise and renown and glory above all nations he has made, and you will be a people holy to the LORD, your God, as he promised.”

 

The Lord has accepted and promised them that they will be abundantly blessed, because He is faithful and trustworthy, does not back down on his promises. Therefore there is fundamentally a blessing attached to the obedience to the Covenant.

●      They will be his People, very special and dear to Him

●      Their nation and status will be elevated to high above all other nations.

●      Their name and fame will spread far and wide and will be praised. (Jeremiah 13:11 and 33:9)

It’s Because by accepting the Covenant They will be consecrated to the Lord, so their way of living, dealing and relating resemble the identity of God and His Holy Nature.

Therefore, in their character be it Personal, Social and Religious they will be addressed people of Praying, loving and Serving not of Exploitation. This adherence leads to blessings. Everyone can be blessed if one wants to follow the covenant,

 

GOSPEL

Jesus, in the Gospel too reminding the people of the Statutes and Commandments, invites them to learn the true meaning and keep, and obey the Covenantal relationship with God which pervades their personal, social and religious life. While speaking of  "You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.” for Jesus there is no room for hatred or retaliation or insult., etc.  

Therefore, Jesus asks us to do two things,  to pray and to love.

●      To pray is to be united with God and to be strengthened in the relationship with others.

●      To love is to express closeness and care towards the other. It’s a commitment to sacrifice for another. Jesus is the perfect embodiment of both Perfect Prayer and Perfect Love.

Jesus loved those who mocked, rejected him and prayed for forgiveness for those who were responsible for his crucifixion. He commands us to love and pray for all even for those who hate, dislike, treat us badly,  mock and persecute us ( near and far; happening in many parts of the world) . It shows that we are children of a merciful Heavenly Father. A Christian has no personal enemies.  If we only love our family and friends, we are no different from pagans or atheists.

Jesus concludes by saying that the Father “makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.” In other words, God bestows His perfect love and mercy upon everyone equally. But some people choose to accept that mercy and others reject it.

 

Dear friends, from the reflection of both the readings remind us that

★    We are covenant people through Baptism today, we have promised to be His from the moment of Baptism.

★    The conditions set forth in the readings are to Love and Pray for all

★    And to walk, keep and Obey in his commandments

★    Therefore it permeates our whole life, Personal, Social and Religious

★    The blessings in abundance flow from God’s Unconditional Love and Mercy.

 

During this Lent us pay attention to this aspect and renew our life and reaffirm our commitment to God, Others and Ourselves once again.

 

 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”. - 1 Peter 2:9

God blesses those who obey him; happy the man who puts his trust in the Lord.Proverbs 16:20

క్రిస్తునాడుని యందు ప్రియ సహోదరి సహోదరులారా ఈనాటి పఠనాలు మన వ్యక్తిగత బాధ్యతను చాల ముఖ్యమైనదిగ పరిగణించాలని, ఒకరితో ఒకరు మరియు దేవునితో సఖ్యత/ రాజీపడాలని మరియు ఇతరులతో మన సంబంధాన్ని కలిగి ఉండాలని మరియు ఆ విధంగా ఆశీర్వదించబడేలా తిరిగి ఐక్యమవ్వాలని  ఆహ్వానిస్తున్నాయి.

ప్రస్తుత క్షణంలో వ్యక్తిగత బాధ్యత

ఈరోజు మొదటి పఠనంలో యెహెజ్కేలు ప్రవక్త నుండి రెండు ఆసక్తికరమైన మరియు కొంత ఆశ్చర్యకరమైన ప్రకటనలను మనం చూస్తున్నాము  “ ప్రభువైన ప్రభువు ఇలా అంటున్నాడు: దుష్టుడు తన పాపముల నుండి వైదొలగి నా చట్టములను పాటించెనేని, న్యాయసమ్మతమైన మంచి పనులు చేసెనేని, చావును తప్పించుకొని బ్రతుకును.” ఇంకా మరోవైపు " కానీ సజ్జనుడు తన సత్కార్యములు నుండి వైదోలియాగి దుష్క్యార్ములకు పాల్పడి, దుష్టులు చేయు హేయమైన కార్యములు చేసెనేని, బ్రతుకున ?, అతను చనిపోతాడు."

ఇది ఆశ్చర్య పరిచేలా  అనిపిస్తుంది, ధ్యానం చేయవలసిన  మరియు అర్థం చేసుకోవలసిన అంశం ఏమిటంటే ఇది ప్రస్తుత క్షణంలో వ్యక్తిగత బాధ్యత మరియు చర్య గురించి అని, ఏవిధంగా ఉంటున్నాము అని అర్ధం చేసుకోవాలి. ఈ సమయంలో నేను ఎలా ఉన్నాను మరియు ఈ సమయంలో దేవుడు మరియు ఇతరులతో నా సంబంధం ఎలా ఉంది అనేది ముఖ్యం. వాస్తవానికి ఇది మన జీవితంలోని ప్రతి క్షణాన్ని అతి ముఖ్యం గ పరిగణించమని ఆహ్వానిస్తుంది. దేవుడు మనల్ని ఖండించడం కాదు, కానీ మన ఎంపికల వల్ల మనం దాని పర్యవసానాలను మరియు  పరిణామాలను మన తలపైకి తెచ్చుకుంటున్నాము. ప్రతి ఒక్కరు ఎవరి చర్యలకు వారే బాధ్యత వహించాలి.

●      ఇక్కడ  మనం మన మంచి పనుల గురించి గర్వించనవసరం లేదు మరియు మంచి చేశా కదా అని  తప్పు దిశలో తిరగ కూడదు, స్వతహాగా మరియు స్పృహతో భగవంతుని నుండి మరియు మంచి పనుల నుండి మనల్ని దూరం చేసుకుంటే, దానికి సంబంధించి  పర్యవసాన ఫలితాలను పొందుతారు.

●      ప్రస్తుత క్షణం (ఇప్పుడు) మన పాపపు జీవనం యొక్క దిశను మార్చడానికి మరియు సరైన మార్గం వైపు మళ్లడానికి ఒక అవకాశం. దానిని స్వీకరించి మలచుకుంటే మీరు ఆశీర్వదించబడతారు.

కాబట్టి, మనం మంచి జీవితాన్ని కొనసాగించాలని, మనలో అత్యుత్తమ సంస్కరణగా ఉండాలని, సరైన మార్గంలో ఉండాలని మరియు ప్రతి క్షణం దేవుని వద్దకు తిరిగి రావాలని  కోరిక. దేవుడు అది గుర్తించి దానికి అనుగుణంగా  ప్రతిస్పందిస్తారు.

ఉదాహరణకు: సిలువపై దొంగ, తనకున్న చివరి క్షణంలో పశ్చాత్తాపపడ్డాడు మరియు శాశ్వత జీవితాన్ని పొందాడు.

ఈనాటి సువార్తలో యేసు మనకు  తోటి సహోదరి సహోదరులతో  వ్యక్తిగతం గ ఏవిధంగా ఉండాలి, ఎటువంటి  బాధ్యత ఉంది అని తెలియచేస్తున్నారు ఒక  ముఖ్యమైన ఉదాహరణ   క్రీస్తు ఇలా అన్నారు, “నేను ధర్మశాస్త్రాన్ని లేదా ప్రవక్తల ప్రభోధములను  రద్దు చేయడానికి వచ్చానని తలంపవలదు; నేను వచ్చినది వానిని సంపూర్ణ మొనర్చుటకే గాని, రద్దు చేయుటకు కాదు. ధర్మం మరియు ఆధ్యాత్మిక జీవనం కేవలం చట్టాన్ని బాహ్యంగా పరిశీలించడం మాత్రమే కాదు, హృదయాన్ని క్రమబద్ధీకరించడం. అందుకే యేసు చట్టాలను వాటి యొక్క అంతరార్ధాన్ని వెల్లడించారు మరియు పరిపూర్ణతను చేసారు. నరహత్య చేయరాదు అనే ఆజ్ఞ గురించి వివరిస్తూ,

 

మన సహోదరులు సహోదరులతో  ఈ సమయంలో సఖ్యత  మరియు ఐక్యత ప్రాముఖ్యత గురించి యేసు మాట్లాడుతున్నారు. అందువల్ల మన హృదయాలలో కోపంతో ఆజ్యం పోస్తే, అది మన సంబంధాలను నాశనం చేసే విధంగా నడిపిస్తుంది. “ కనుకనే ఒకవేళ మీకు కోపము వచ్చినచో, ఆ కోపము మిమ్ము పాపములోనికి లాగుకొనిపోకుండా చూచుకొనుడి, సూర్యుడు అస్తమించు లోగ  మీ కోపము చల్లారి పోవలెను.” (ఎఫెసీయులు 4:26). మరియు అవమానించడం కూడా ఒక చంపడం లాంటిది, పదాలు చాల శక్తివంతమైనవి. Ezekiel 18: 21-28

RRR - Responsibility, Reconciliation and Reunion.

Dear Brothers and sisters in Christ, the readings of the day invites us to consider our Individual Responsibility seriously, Be Reconciled with oneself, and in our relation with God and others And thus be Reunited so as to be blessed. 

The Individual responsibility at the Present Moment

Today in the First reading we find two interesting and somewhat shocking statements from the prophet Ezekiel “ Thus says the Lord GOD: If the wicked man turns away from all the sins he committed, if he keeps all my statutes and does what is right and just, he shall surely live, he shall not die.” on the other hand “And if the virtuous man turns from the path of virtue to do evil, because of this, he shall die.”

It seems shocking, the point to be reflected  and understood is that it is about Individual Responsibility and action at the present moment. What matters is how I am at the moment and how is my relationship with God and others at the moment. It in fact invites us to consider each moment of our life seriously. It is not God condemning us but because of our choices at the moment we are bringing our consequences on our heads. Each one is responsible for one’s actions.

●      Here our past does not matter, we can not take pride in our good deeds and turn in the wrong direction, consciously distancing ourselves from God and good deeds, you will receive consequent results.  

●      The present moment (The Now) is a chance to change the direction of our sinful living and turn to the right path. You will be blessed.

Therefore, It’s the wish of the Lord that we continue to live a good life, be the best version of ourselves, be on the right track and also Every moment is a golden opportunity to reconcile, and return to the Lord. God will acknowledge and react accordingly.

For example: the thief on the cross, he was repentant in the given moment and was blessed with eternal life.

In the Gospel Jesus presents to us some important examples in relation to Individual Responsibility in our relation with fellow brothers and sisters and He Says  “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them”.  Virtue and spiritual living not just external observation of the law but of disposition of the heart. That’s why Jesus redefines and gives perfection to the laws. While explaining the accurate meaning of the Commandment to not to Kill,   

Jesus speaks about the significance of  reconciliation and reunion at the moment with our brothers and sisters.  Therefore if we are fueled with anger in our hearts, it can find a way to destroy our relationships. “If you are angry do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger or you will give the devil a chance” (Ephesians 4:26). And insulting is also a grave matter, Words are powerful. “The wounds given by the sword can be healed, but nothing can heal the wounds inflicted by Words.” they can crush a heart or heal it, they can shame or liberate it, they can shatter dreams or energise them, they can construct or destruct”.Therefore, insulting a brother or sister with our words can shatter the relationships.  However today, this has become second nature to us, insulting and calling names before others, bad mouthing, gossip, slander and defamation. This is a passive way of killing others.  And Jesus says not to hold grudges, the resentment in our hearts to distance our brother or sister, does not sit well with God.

God does not accept our offering, we are wasting time with empty praises and worship because of our hearts' disposition towards our brothers and sisters . So first be reconciled otherwise there is pertinent consequence for our disposition, for the wrong path we are on. In the first God says, that He shall die if one turns from virtuous life to evil life, and in the Gospel we find he will not enter the kingdom of Heaven, and will be thrown in the prison.

Therefore, dear brother and sisters in Christ, Lent is a time not just giving up our favourite meals or TV But it's about giving up sin, abandoning evil life, changing our attitude of heart and everything that distances us from God, Others and Ourselves.

Let us keep in mind, it's about - RRR

Responsibility  - to our words, and actions at the present moment

Reconciliation -  through from sin to virtuous life, Anger to Love (a change of one’s Heart & Path)

Reunion - With God, Other and Oneself
