The Way of Prayer

 

Dear Brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, we had reflected Yesterday about how we should relate with our neighbours and to those who are in need. We are invited to see the presence of God in them and love as we would love God.

We were invited to respond to their needs, negligence on our part deserves appropriate punishment from God. hence we can sum up and say it was a call to love and serve them, one of the Pillars of the Lent: Charity ( Almsgiving)

Today we are invited to reflect on another pillar of the Lent: Prayer.

From the teaching of Christ, we can extract two aspects that are unnecessary to be avoided.

●      Many words are not required, need not to heap up words while praying. Therefore the repetition of the words,  long prayers without any real attention to God does not affect God to grant us our petitions. (Mt 6:7)

●      And the focus should not be on public opinion or public appreciation. And it should not be a time to showcase one’s talents and skills. (Mt 6:5)

So when Jesus says  “ But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret” is that a kind of personal contemplative prayer where you shut all the doors of  distractions, intentions and focus only God and his will to us.  When Built on this personal relationship God hears and responds. St. Teresa of Avila defines prayer as “is nothing else than a close sharing between friends; it means taking time frequently to be alone with the one who we know loves us.”  

 

In today’s Gospel Jesus teaches us The Lord’s Prayer or Our Father , perfect model to all the prayers and perfect in every sense.

“Our Father, who art in Heaven” - as being to pray  Christ invites us to call God, our Father, transforming our prayer into more personal. With this close relationship we can confidently approach him now without any hesitation.

And here by addressing who art in Heaven  we acknowledge his greatness and thus give due praise and reverence. It’s a praise to his Holiness and Divinity. 

 

The Petitions

As the prayer is divided into two sections, The first section solely the praise of God, the will of God and our cooperation with him.

Hallowed be Thy Name:

God’s name is Holy From eternity  the reason for our praying is that it is a reminder that it should not be defiled, rather we allow it to spread the Holy Name and be revered in us and around. (unfortunately, in many places God’s Holy is name is unnecessarily used and defiled) 

Thy Kingdom Come:

We pray for the second coming and also elsewhere Jesus says it is already among you (Luke 17:21), it means that we pray that it is established in us first. That our life may be guided according to the rules and regulations of God’s kingdom. The way we think, speak and act must reflect the kingdom's values. And also the values of the kingdom are upheld in the society, the respect for life at any stage, mutual respect, and goodness. Love and forgiveness to name a few. ( but we are drifting away now).

Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven:

We pray that his will is fulfilled in our lives as is accomplished in Jesus. Therefore it's a way of committing and entrusting ourselves into his hands. We are also asking here to fill us with the strength to fulfil his will in our lives.

 

The next four petitions relate to personal and interpersonal needs. we pray:

Give us this day our daily bread:  

We pray for our needs: material and spiritual. We are trusting in the providence of God here. By saying daily, we are praying for his presence in every moment of our life so that we lack nothing (psalm 23:1). We trust in his care and depend on it for he is the source of our sustenance.

Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us:

 God is merciful and loving. So we need not fear and be embarrassed to come to him with our faults. We can pray He is our father. However there is one condition here, the only way to obtain is to forgive our brothers and sisters first, first be reconciled with them then we are eligible for this grace. (Matthew 5: 23-24)

And lead us not into temptation:

Temptations are real and painful, it can be because of our weakness, nature and satan. It’s like a battle we have to fight off, lest we fall into sin. So We pray here to the  Lord that we are  weak, so we entrust ourselves into his power and authority to help us to overcome.

But deliver us from evil: As we pray for the deliverance from evil, the evil which destroys life and distances us away from the values,  gospel values and human dignity , in our modern society there are many evils in different forms. the systems, laws and regulation in the society which lead a person in a destructive way. ( we witness this trend in many countries, Gender, woke and all) at home, workplace, schools, roads and environment.

Only God can free and deliver us.(Daniel 3:17)

Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays. — Soren Kierkegaard.

Therefore, let us remember to pray as Jesus taught us with praise and petitions and with attention and awareness. Let us have a personal relationship with God the Father in our Prayers. Let us remember

 

★    Prayer is a personal relationship with God

★    Prayer is conversation with God and connection with God who awaits for us.

★    Prayer is to depend on God, acknowledging our weaknesses.

★    Prayer is to submit to God, surrendering our will to God’s will.

★    Prayer is to believe that “I can do nothing, but God can do everything,” and to ask him humbly.

Leviticus 19:1-2, 11-18

The Call : to Be Holy (Lev 19:1)

The Measure : the Holiness of God (Lev 19:1, Mt 5:48)

The Action: Love and Service (Charity) in our Interpersonal relationship (Lev 19:18, 

                    Mk  12:31)

The Identity : God identifies with every person (the neighbour, the needy) Lev 19:14, 16, 18,                                         Mt 25:40, 45)

 

No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.(John 4:12 )

If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love a brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. (John 4 : 20)

 

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus, the readings of the day explain  to us that standard and goal in our life. That is to be Holy as God is Holy, to share in his Holiness.  The readings present to us the reason and  the ways of becoming Holy. The basis of our holiness is the Holiness of loving God.

The first reading,  taken from the book of Leviticus, gives the Holiness code: “Be holy, for I the Lord, your God, am Holy.”  Our God is both transcendent, beyond our comprehension also at the same time He is immanent made himself known to us through his words, actions above all through Jesus Christ. So the people of Israel and now we are expected not only to adore and revere but also share his Holiness by living holy. God’s holiness consists in his unconditional love, care, mercy and forgiveness. So in order to live holy we also need to have the same qualities. Holiness consists of :  1) “Love your God 2) “Love your neighbour as yourself.”

St. Paul also tells that We are to be holy because we are the temples of the holy spirit , the holy spirit lives in us. The presence of the holy spirit in us leads us towards holy life, always encouraging us to better our thoughts, words and actions in allegiance to the life of Christ.

Jesus also affirms the standard of our life that is:  “You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) It means that our standard is high which is based on how God thinks, speaks and does , it’s not based on what everyone is saying and doing. So we ought to be different and be like your heavenly Father. That’s the standard and goal. But too often in our lives we settle for everything except for this.

The Meaning: Holiness means set part, so when we say a person is holy he is set aside by God for holy purpose.

 

Today’s readings present to us one of the ways to become Holy, The Lord speaks through Moses to gather and  instruct all the people. Moses gives them some regulations on how to relate with others socially as well as religiously. Because we live in an interconnected society, therefore how we connect to the person determines the quality of our life. Therefore in this respect Holiness pervades every aspect of our life.

The Lord gives us some commands to follow for our day to day life in our interpersonal relationship which would lead us to form a character that is Holy.  Our each thought, word and action in relation to the other matters to God  because at the end of verses 14, 16, and 18 God reminds that “ I am the Lord''. He reminds them that He identifies with them. so whatever we do and however we relate directly connects to God. 

The instructions are crystal clear:

No defilement of His name and No unnecessary usage

No Oppression

No Negligence towards Physically challenged

No unfair Judgement regardless of Poor or Rich

No Partiality

No hatred in our hearts

No slander and No robbing.

 

Though every instruction is explained in negative terms, at the end of verse 18 we find “ love your neighbours as you love yourself”. Therefore everything can be summed in this command to love others and to reach out to them.

In the Gospel “ amen, i say to you, what you did  for one of these least ones, you did for me” and amen, i say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me”

Jesus too in the Gospel identifies himself with the least, the needy: especially the people who are in need of food, drink, clothing; people who lack a home, health and freedom.

By identifying Jesus reveals that they too deserve human dignity and respect despite their condition, they too deserve to be looked after.

God Judged on the basis of their relation towards the other, especially the needy. Both the groups were surprised, and had no awareness. Some had responded to the needy and others had failed to respond. It was important for God in assessing our attitude. Because

❖    In dealing with the other, we are dealing with the Lord.

❖    In serving the other, we are serving the Lord.

❖    In loving the other, we are loving the Lord.

★    In neglecting the other, we are neglecting the Lord.

Examples : Rich man and Lazarus (Lk 16:19-31) ;  Good Samaritan Story (Lk 10:25-37)

 

Today our neighbour could be anyone who comes in contact with us despite his or her background and the least of which could be any who is socially, socially, economically and psychologically disadvantaged. God expects us to treat them as we would treat him because they belong to the family of God and whatever we do to them is done ultimately to the Lord. 

 

From the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

From the abundance of goodness within, good actions flow.

From the abundance of love within, loving behaviours proceed.

From the abundance of kindness within, kindhearted conduct emerges.

 “in the evening of our life, we will be examined in love,” - Saint John of the Cross

Are we prepared for the evening and meet our God?

“He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness”  (hebrews 5:2) 

 "Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ."- St. Jerome

 

The Reality and Pain of Temptation:

Temptation in our life is real, arises from our fallen nature, our weakness and from evil. And also when we reflect, it’s a heavy burden and results in emotional and spiritual pain. When we yield  to temptations, there is certainly pain that hurts us deep down in our hearts.

It’s a reality experienced by each of us, therefore we can say it’s inevitable.  it’s an attempt to draw us away from the relationship of God, and from the relationship with others. It’s an attempt to change our focus from God to something unwanted. It’s not the same as sin, but it can lead to sin and then resulting consequences.

It’s an opportunity to assess our spiritual condition and spiritual commitment to God and to the purpose of our life. It’s an opportunity to make necessary amendments and be equipped with the weapons to fight off the occasions of sin. Therefore as the saying goes, “ it’s easier to bend a plant than a tree”. Hence we need to fight/defend in the beginning itself, it’s like a battle if we don't fight, we give in, surrender and become slaves.

It’s indeed painful and suffering, we read in Hebrews “for because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted” (Hebrews 2:18). Jesus himself experienced this pain, suffered and experienced it several occasions. However he did not yield; rather he won against the allurements and tricks of Satan's temptations. That’s why he can help us today, to bear this pain and to defend ourselves from all the wiles of the satan.

 

Some Biblical examples

❖    Eve was tempted, succumbed to the tempter

❖    King David was tempted, yielded to temptation of pleasure and in taking the census of Israel.

❖    Ananias and Sapphira - tempted for money - fell for it  Acts 5:1–3

 

Joseph in the old testament was tempted for sexual bait, but did not give in (Gen 39:6-23)

Job was tempted by taking everything away from him Job 1:6-12

Jesus was tempted, but overcame the satan’s tricks

 

Temptations can come in many forms and from various sources, it can be from our own family, friends and hearts. Satan can make use of anything to tempt us and fall. Satan prowls like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8)

Ist reading :

We read the fall of Adam and Eve, the story is familiar to us. God formed human beings and gave them freedom. The narration of the temptation takes place in casual conversation. Once Eve started to respond, she was tempted to doubt God’s words and command. Then with the pretext of helping with sugar coated words created an interest and desire towards fruit. And also invented false promises, that they would be elevated to the status of  God. This false promise replaced and overshadowed God and others. This boosted their ego in other words, Pride took over and poisoned them. 

They yielded to that temptation and broke the relationship with God

Note: A casual conversation can lead us into doubts, create interests and desire and make false promises and poison oneself with pride and prejudice.  ( Social Media, friends or neighbours who are jealous of others goodness)

 

Gospel

In the Gospel we find Jesus was preparing for active ministry and ultimately death and now we are preparing these 40 days to receive the light of life, Easter with our  spiritual exercises and self discipline and acts of charity.  So it is good to reflect and understand how to defend ourselves from all these attacks of temptation.

After 40 days of fasting and praying, Jesus from the point of human nature he looks vulnerable and weak. So the devil finds it an opportunity to strike him and turn him against his mission. But Jesus, though tired, was prompt to counterattack and defeat.

 

The Three Temptations:

The Three temptations - Physical, Spiritual and Psychological

These temptations were those of bread, power, and worldly recognition.

The first temptation is related to flesh, physical, after the fasting for 40 days Jesus was naturally hungry, so the devil finds it perfect time, perfect beginning to attack.

It is said “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” but Jesus responded with a quote from scripture “One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Deut. 8:3). And in the Gospel of John Jesus said “my food is to do the will of the Father”. He is very much aware that even in his severe hunger and weakness, to do the will of the father, is to fulfil the word of God. Although Satan tried to create interest in fulfilling his physical needs,  He withstood the physical temptation.

The Second Temptation: is related to Spirituality, the  40 days of Spiritual discipline and practices are meant to have communion with God, not meant to selfish motives. It is said “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down” and he responds with “Do not put the Lord your God to the test”.(Deut 6:16) here in this context God instructs to follow commandments and not to disobey and test Him. Satan again tries to tempt Jesus to test God, to doubt God. and  was prompting Jesus to test and manipulate God and to also test his identity. But Jesus did not waver in his trust. He trusted God completely and submitted to him.

The Third Temptation: is related to Psychological, satan tried to test physically, spiritually and now is touching the person’s ego, the Pride. The temptation is very open, fall at meet and I will show you a shortcut to accomplish your mission, to establish the kingdom of God. and also the beauty of the world which is pleasing to the eyes.  It is said “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him” (Luke 4:8). “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him”.(Deut 6:13). The intention of Satan was to make a political messiah, for whom the people were expecting. thus offered all the power, glory and authority. And also accomplish the mission before the appointed time set by Father. Well, he rejected and took pride only doing the will of the Father and in serving not being served.

 

Note : The devil starts from physical vulnerability, to spiritual uncertainty to psychological gratification. 

2nd Reading

St. Paul in the second reading with regard to temptation explains the difference by comparing Jesus, the new Adam with the Old Adam. Through first Adam came sin, suffering and death but with second Adam Jesus came grace,  life and salvation. The first Adam was tempted and fell for it. But though Jesus was tempted , he did not fall. He overcame the temptations.

 

Jesus was tempted the same way as Adam and Eve but He overcame the temptations. We too can experience physically, spiritually, and psychologically. But Jesus shows us the way to overcome all the temptations.  For every temptation he responded with the word of God, he continued to keep his trust in Father, and he responded with spiritual power.

Though Jesus suffered the pain of temptation, he became stronger and prepared for his ministry. By rejecting the false promises and driving away the satan he made his intentions very clear that he is not here just to provide material goods, to win popularity by his power nor he is here for political power.

 

Therefore it is an invitation for all of us to learn the word of God, to pray for the Spirit and to trust him always. Then  only we become stronger in our faith and prepared for our responsibilities.

 తపస్సుకాలపు మొదటి ఆదివారము

ఆది 2:7-9,3:1-7

రోమా 5:12-19

మత్త 4:1-11.

ఈనాడు మన తల్లియైన తిరుసభ మనలనందరిని కూడా తపస్సుకాలములోకి ఆహ్వానిస్తుంది. అయితే,

తపస్సు కాలము అనగా దేవుని చెంతకు మరలి వచ్చు కాలమని , హృదయ పరివర్తనా కాలమని,

పచ్చాతాపకాలమని మనల్ని మనము తయారు చేసుకొని సిద్ధపడే కాలం అని అంటాం. ఈ కాలములో ఆ దేవాతి

దేవుని శక్తిని స్వీకరించుటకు ఏసుప్రభు వలే ఉపవాసము, ప్రార్థన మరియు దానధర్మములతో మనలను మనము

తయారు చేసుకోవాలి.

ఈనాడు మన తల్లియైన తిరుసభ నాలుగు విషయాలను ధ్యానించమని మనందరినికూడా ఆహ్వానిస్తుంది.

1.యేసుప్రభువు పవిత్రాత్మతో పరిపూర్ణుడై ఆత్మ ప్రేరణ వలన ఎడారి ప్రదేశమునకు కొనిపోబడును.

2. ఎందుకు ఏసుప్రభువు ఎడారికి కొనిపోబడును?

3. క్రీస్తుకు శోధనలు దేనికి?

4.శోధనలపై విజయము సాధించిన క్రీస్తు ప్రభువు.

మొదటిగా,

1.యేసుప్రభువు పవిత్రాత్మతో పరిపూర్ణుడై ఆత్మ ప్రేరణ వలన ఎడారి ప్రదేశమునకు కొనిపోబడును:

 ఏసుప్రభువు యొక్క జన్మము నుంచి మరణం వరకు పరిశుదాత్మతో నింపబడి ఉండటం

చూస్తున్నాం.

గాబ్రియేలు దూత మరియమ్మతో పలికిన పలుకులు పవిత్రాత్మ నీపై వేయించేయును

సర్వోన్నతుని శక్తి నిన్ను ఆవరించును. అందుచేత ఆ పవిత్ర శిశువు దేవుని కుమారుడు అని

పిలవబడును.

 లూకా2:40 బాల యేసు పెరిగి దృడకాయుడై పరిపూర్ణ జ్ఞానము కలవాడు ఆయన దేవుని

అనుగ్రహము ఆయనపై ఉండెను. బాల యేసు దేవాలయములో సమర్పణ సమయంలో సన్నివేశం.

 బాల యేసు 12 ఏళ్లు వయస్సు గలవాడైనప్పుడు జ్ఞానమందును ప్రాయమందును వర్ధిల్లుచు

దేవుని అనుగ్రహమును, ప్రజల ఆదరాభిమానములను పొందుచుండెను.

 యొర్దాను నదిలో యేసుప్రభువు బాప్తిస్మము సమయంలో, పవిత్రాత్మ పావురము రూపమున

ఆయనపై దిగివచ్చెను. ఆ సమయమున నీవు నా ప్రియమైన కుమారుడవు నిన్ను గూర్చి నేను

ఆనందించుచున్నాను అని ఒక దివ్యవాణి వినిపించెను.

2. ఎందుకు ఏసుప్రభువు ఎడారికి కొనిపోబడును?

ఇశ్రాయేలు సాంప్రదాయం ప్రకారం ఎడారి దేవుని కలుసుకునే తావు, శోధనలకు గురయ్యే ప్రదేశం.

 క్రీస్తు ముందు ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలు 40 ఏళ్ల పాటు ఎడారిలో ప్రయాణం చేశారు. ఈ కాలంలోనే మోషే 40

రోజులపాటు ప్రార్థనలతో ఉపవాసములతో సీనాయి కొండమీద ఏకాంతముగా గడిపారు.

 ఏలియా ప్రవక్త కూడా 40 రోజులు ఎడారి గుండా నడిచిపోయి హోరేబు కొండ చేరుకుని అక్కడ దైవ

సాక్షాత్కారం పొందాడు.

వీరిలాగే ఏసు కూడా ఎడారిలో దైవసాక్షాత్కారం కలిగించుకోబోతున్నాడు. అంటే తాను దేవుని కుమారుడని

సైతానుకు తెలుసు. ఇంకా ఎడారి నిలయం కూడా. దేవుని మొదటి కుమారుడు ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలను, పిచాచి

ఎడారిలో శోధించింది.వారు దానికి లొంగిపోయారు కూడా. క్రీస్తు దేవుని ఏకైక కుమారుడు, ఈ కుమారుని కూడా

సాతాను ప్రలోభ పెట్టింది కానీ మొదటి కుమారుడు పడిపోయాడు, కానీ ఈ ఏకైక కుమారుడు సైతానుపై విజయం

సాధించాడు.మరియు తన పూర్వికుల పాపాలకు పరిహారం కూడా చేశాడు.

3. క్రీస్తుకు శోధనలు దేనికి?

పాపం ఏ మాత్రం సోకని పావన మూర్తి క్రీస్తు. మరి అతడు శోధన గురి కావడం దేనికి? ఈ శోధన

అనుభవించింది తన కోసం కాదు పాపులమైన మన కోసం. అతడు నూతన మానవజాతికి శిరస్సు, నాయకుడు.

తరువాత మానవులు శోధనకు గురి అవుతారు. కనుక తాను ఈ నరుల తరపున ముందుగానే శోధనను

ఆహ్వానించాడు. వాటి మీద విజయం సాధించాడు కూడా. అప్పటినుండి మన నాయకుని విజయం మన శోధనను

ఎదుర్కొనేటప్పుడు క్రీస్తు విజయం మన మీద సోకి మనకు గెలుపును దయచేస్తుంది.

4.శోధనలపై విజయము సాధించిన క్రీస్తు ప్రభువు:

4.1. భోజనం ప్రీతి:

“సైతాను యేసుతో నీవు దేవుని కుమారుడవైనచో అనే అనుమానం విత్తనం నాటుతుంది".

“మానవుడు కేవలం రొట్టెవలనే జీవింపడు, దేవుని నుండి వచ్చు ప్రతి వాక్కు వలన జీవించును” అని

దేవుడు ఎందుకు పలికాడు. ఎందుకంటే ఏసుప్రభువుకు రాళ్లను రొట్టెగా మార్చడం సాధ్యమే కానీ, ఇలా చేస్తే

ఏసుప్రభువు ఒక రొట్టెచేసేవాడైపోతాడు. ఏసుప్రభు ఈ లోకానికి వచ్చినది మనిషి పొట్టను రొట్టెతో నింపడానికి కాదు,

కానీ పాపములో పడిపోయిన మనుషులను రక్షించడానికి, మరియు వారి ఆత్మలను తన యొక్క దివ్య శరీర

రక్తంతో తృప్తి పరచడానికి. ఇలాంటి శోధనని మొదట ఎడారిలో ప్రయాణం చేస్తున ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలకు కూడా

తెచ్చిపెట్టింది సైతాను. అక్కడ వారు సైతానుకు లొంగిపోయారు. కానీ క్రీస్తు ఇక్కడ సైతానుపై విజయం సాధించాడు.

మరియ మొదటి పఠనంలో కూడా అవ్వ భోజనం మీద ప్రీతితో దేవుడు తినవద్దన్న పండును తిన్నది. దాని

ద్వారా పాపం కట్టుకున్నది,మరణమును చవిచూచింది. మన క్రైస్తవ లేక విశ్వాసపు జీవితములలో శరీరానికి

ఆహారము ఎంత అవసరమో మన ఆత్మకు దేవునియొక్క వాక్కు కూడా అంతే అవసరము. ఈ వాక్కు ద్వారానే

మనము రక్షింపబడుతున్నాం. ఎందుకంటే ఈ వాక్కు ఎవరో కాదు సాక్షాత్తు ఆ దేవాతి దేవుడైన యేసుప్రభువు.

మన యేసు ప్రభువు ఎలాగయితే ఈ ఆహారముపై ఎక్కువగా మొగ్గుచూపకుండా తన తండ్రి ఇచ్చిన వాక్కును

పరిపూర్ణము చేస్తున్నాడో, మనము కూడా అలాగే జీవించాలి. అప్పుడే, ఆ సైతానును మనము సులువుగా

జయించగలము.

4.2.విగ్రహారాధన:

సైతాను క్రీస్తు ప్రభువుతో ప్రపంచంలోని రాజ్యాలను నీకు ఇస్తాను, కానీ నీవు నన్ను ఆరాధించాలి. అని

ఎప్పుడయితే పలికినదో అప్పుడు క్రీస్తు, "దేవుడైన ప్రభువును ఆరాధించి ఆయనను మాత్రమే సేవించవలెను" అని

చెప్పారు. అంటే పాపంతో నిండి ఉన్న వారి జీవితాలు, రాజ్యాలు క్రీస్తుకు వద్దు.కానీ మారుమనస్సు పొందిన

జీవితాలు క్రీస్తుకు కావాలి. దానికి క్రీస్తు శ్రమలు, సిలువ మరణం ,తన పునరుద్ధానం ద్వారా నెరవేరుతుంది.

ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలు ఆనాడు బంగారు దూడను తయారు చేసి, దానిని పూజించడం మొదలుపెట్టారు. దీని ద్వారా

వారు పాపం కట్టుకుని దేవుని ఆజ్ఞలకు విరుద్ధముగా జీవించి ఆయనతో స్నేహ సంబంధాన్ని కోల్పోయారు.

మొదటి పఠనంలో కూడా, పాము చెప్పినట్లు, ఆది తల్లిదండ్రులు మంచి చెడులు తీసుకొని వారు దేవునిగా

మారాలని అనుకున్నారు. దీని ద్వారా పాపం కట్టుకున్నారు.

4.3. దేవుని పరీక్షకు గురి చేయటం:

సైతాను ఏసుప్రభుతో "నీవు దేవుని కుమారుడ వైనచో,క్రిందికి దూకు. ఏలయన, నిన్ను రక్షింప దేవుడు తన

దూతలను పంపిస్తాడు". ఏసుప్రభు సమాధానం: "ప్రభువునైన నీ దేవుని శోధించరాదు" అని సమాధానం

చెప్పారు. ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలకు దాహం వేసినప్పుడు పిచాచి ఆలోచనలతో మోషే మీద తిరగబడ్డారు. ఇజ్రాయిల్

ప్రజలు అనుకున్నారు, దేవుడు కనుక మనతో ఉంటే ఈ యొక్క కష్టాలు మనకెందుకు వస్తాయి అని దూషించి

పాపము కట్టుకున్నారు. మరి మొదటి పఠనంలో కూడా మనం చూస్తున్నాము, ఆది తల్లిదండ్రులతో, మీరు

తినకూడదు అన్న పండును వారు తిని, దేవుని ప్రేమకు దూరమయ్యి పాపము కట్టుకున్నారు. కానీ,

యేసుప్రభువు మాత్రము తన తండ్రి యందు అచంచలమైన నమ్మకముకలిగి ఎటువంటి పరీక్షకుకూడా

గురిచేయలేదు. ఎందుకంటే, ఆయన తన తండ్రియందే ఆధారపడి జీవించాడు కాబట్టి. కానీ, మనము మాత్రము,

ఈలోక ఆశలకు ఆశయాలకు బానిసలమవుతూ ఆదేవాతి దేవుని ప్రేమను అర్ధం చేసుకోకుండా మన ఇష్టానుసారం

జీవిస్తూ, ఇష్టమొచ్చిన దేవుళ్లను కొలుస్తూ ఆయనకు అయిష్టముగా జీవిస్తూ, ఆ దేవాతి దేవున్నే పరీక్షకు

ఆదాము పాపము అందరి శిక్షకు కారమైనట్లు, ఒక్కని నీతిమంతమైన క్రియ అందరికీ విముక్తి ప్రసాదించి

వారికి జీవమును అనుగ్రహించుచున్నది. ఆ ఒక్క మానవుని అవిధేయత ఫలితముగా అనేకులు పాపాత్ములుగా

చేయబడినట్లే ఒక్క మానవుని విధేయత ఫలితముగా అనేకులు నీతిమంతులగుదురు.

ప్రతిమానవుని జీవితములో శోధనలను జయించాలి అంటే ప్రార్ధన ఎంతో అవసరము. ఈ ప్రార్ధన ద్వారానే

మనము సైతాను శోధనలను జయించగలము, ఇంకా దేవుని చేరగలము. మానవుడు శరీరము, ఆత్మచేత

సృష్టింపబడ్డాడు. మనము శోధనలో పడనివ్వకండి అని తండ్రి దేవునికి ప్రార్ధన చేస్తున్నాం. ఎందుకంటే నీ సంపాదన

చోటనే నీ హృదయం కూడా ఉంటుంది ఎవరు ఇద్దరు యజమానులను సేవింపలేరు. మనము ఎప్పుడయితే

ఆత్మవలన జీవిస్తామో అప్పుడే ఆ ఆత్మ వలన నడిపింపబడతాం.

పవిత్రాత్మతో ఏకీభవించడం వల్ల తండ్రి మనకు శక్తినిస్తాడు. ఏ పరీక్ష మనలను అధిగమింపలేదు. దేవుడు

విశ్వాసపాత్రుడు నీ శక్తిని మించి శోధనకు గురికానీయడు. శోధనతో పాటు తప్పుకొనేమార్గాన్ని కూడా

సమకూర్చుతాడు. అందువల్ల ప్రార్ధన, ఉపవాసము మరియు దానధర్మములు ద్వారానే మనకు శోధనలు

ఎదుర్కొనే శక్తి లభిస్తుంది. అంతటి పోరాటం, అలాంటి విజయం సాధన ద్వారా మాత్రమే సాధ్యమవుతుంది. యేసు

ప్రభువు శోధనకారుని వెడలగొట్టాడు. మన పరలోక తండ్రికి చేసిన ఈ విన్నపంతో క్రీస్తు తన పోరాటంలోనూ, తన

శ్రమల తోనూ మనల్ని ఐక్యం చేశాడు. కాబట్టి, ఈ తపస్సు కాలములో ముఖ్యముగా ప్రార్ధన, ఉపవాసము

మరియు దానధర్మములకు ప్రాధాన్యతఇస్తూ దేవునికి దగ్గరవుదాం.
